About the Museum & school

Unlock your inner artisan and embark on an unforgettable journey of craftsmanship with our unique Build Your Own Penny Farthing Bicycle or Steel Bicycle Frame experience!

Step into our workshop and immerse yourself in the art of bicycle building, guided by expert instructors who will lead you through every step of the process. Whether you're drawn to the classic elegance of the Penny Farthing or the sleek lines of a steel frame, our workshop offers the perfect opportunity to bring your vision to life.

For enthusiasts of vintage cycling, our Build Your Own Penny Farthing Bicycle workshop provides a rare chance to create your very own high-wheeler, complete with its distinctive large front wheel and smaller rear wheel. From assembling the frame to crafting the wheel spokes and installing the handlebars, you'll experience the thrill of building a timeless piece of cycling history with your own hands.

Alternatively, if modern design and performance are more your style, our Steel Bicycle Frame workshop offers the opportunity to construct a custom steel frame tailored to your preferences and riding needs. Learn the art of brazing and welding as you shape and assemble each component, culminating in a one-of-a-kind bicycle frame that reflects your unique personality and riding style.

As you explore the museum's carefully curated exhibits, you'll uncover the rich history of cycling in the South Burnett, tracing its origins back to the early pioneers who first embraced this revolutionary mode of transportation. From the humble beginnings of the penny farthing to the sleek, high-performance bikes of today, our museum offers a comprehensive overview of how cycling has evolved over the years.

Whether you're a seasoned cyclist, a history buff, or simply curious to learn more about the origins of cycling in our region, the South Burnett Cycling Museum offers an engaging and educational experience for visitors of all ages. Join us as we celebrate the rich heritage of cycling and pay tribute to the pioneers who paved the way for generations of cyclists to come.

ABOUT TINGOORA

A beautiful rest stop along the South Burnett Rail Trail, Tingoora is home to some of the prettiest views in the Burnett. The town takes its name from a railway station which was named for the local Indigenous Australian word in the Wakka Wakka language for the wattle tree.
