If you are out and about riding on the South Burnett Rail Trail, why not try one of the local loop rides? These rides start and finish on the South Burnett Rail Trail. They vary in distance and difficulty and are all on public roads, so take care to follow all road rules and simply follow the street signs around each route. These rides are designed to give riders an appreciation of the natural beauty that lies within the South Burnett region and include seven fully signposted and mapped Loop Rides off the South Burnett Rail Trail at Memerambi, Wooroolin, Tingoora, the Moffatdale Winery Route and Boat Mountain.

Wooroolin West Loop Ride
12.6 km
This Route starts and finishes at the Grand Hotel at Wooroolin, right next to the South Burnett Rail Trail. This route briefly crosses the highway. The route heads west of Wooroolin, through farmland and gives a great look at the rich red soils that this area is famous for. The route briefly (150m) follows the highway. The road edges are wide and in great condition, so stay left. The route then re-joins the Rail Trail and you follow this back to Wooroolin.
Nanango Circuit Rides
Another wonderful little detail from the rail trail for riders wanting to see more of the South Burnett includes the East Nanango Circuit Ride (NAN 1 - 32 kilometres) and Greenwood Creek Circuit Ride (NAN 2 - 22 kilometres). Both loop rides start in Nanango and showcase the beautiful South Burnett countryside. While NAN1 offers a couple of great climbs with impressive views to reward riders at the top, NAN2 delivers some lovely descents down Brights Road and Rural Road back into Nanango township, with both circuits making for a lovely leisurely weekend cycle.
Boat Mountain Route -
Officially opened in September 2023, The 23km Boat Mountain Route is the the latest addition to the South Burnett’s impressive loop rides and offers some of the most rewarding views for your efforts. This route starts and finishes in Murgon, right next to the South Burnett Rail Trail and follows Boat Mountain Road, past the Murgon Primary and High Schools, leading you out of town. The completely bitumen route does present a climb of 265 metres of elevation over 13 kilometres, but it is a very picturesque ride and the road winds its way to the top allowing for a constant climb with no sharp pinches along the way.
Linville Nanango Circuit Ride
This is a two-day cycle route that starts in Nanango, goes to Linville and returns to Nanango via a combination of the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail and the Link Route from Yarraman. This is for the more adventurous cyclist, as there are some large hills, travelling through some beautiful countryside as well as the upper reaches of the Brisbane River Valley
East Memerambi Loop

This loop ride starts and finishes on the South Burnett Rail Trail at Memerambi at the trail shelter. The loop is a mixture of bitumen and dirt roads. There in one quite long hill in this loop. The view from the top of McDonald Road is one of the best in the South Burnett and well worth the climb. This route is ok in wet weather as long as you ride it in a counterclockwise direction.
Goomeri-Kinbombi Loop

This loop starts and finishes in Goomeri on the Kingaroy to Kilkivan Rail Trail. Bitumen roads, dirt roads, rail trail and hill climbs. The route follows the Rail Trail out of Goomeri towards Kilkivan turning off the rail trail into Kinbombi Rd.
Moffatdale Winery Route
This ride route starts 6.5kms North of Murgon on the South Burnett Rail Trail. The ride is just over 20km in length (one way). It utilises quiet country backroads that take riders through the beautiful Moffatdale Valley on the way to the Moffatdale wine region. The route is an easy ride, with minimal traffic. There are four wineries on this route.
