Stage one of the three-part Gordonbrook Dam trail development is now open to riders. With three different trails, stage one has a total of three kilometres of downhill, adrenaline pumping fun for all skill levels. Trail one is the most technical with several rocky sections, gap jumps, table tops and berms while trails two and three are more cross-country runs with a number of jumps, rollovers and berms. The Gordonbrook Dam trails are just a short six-kilometre ride from the South Burnett Rail Trail with picnic and toilet facilities available as well as a lovely view over the dam itself.
The network comprises eleven trails with a total distance of 13.80 km. It features Green Trails for novice riders, Blue Trails, and a Black-rated cross-country race loop for more advanced riders. Gordonbrook Dam MTB Trails offers something for everyone. With further funding, a Skills Park and a Dual Slalom Trail will be added to enhance the facility.
Gordonbrook Dam Facilities
Gordonbrook Dam features two carparks, both providing direct access to the trails. The bottom carpark is located near the dam's water's edge and offers picnic tables, basic toilets, and shaded areas, ideal for a day's riding setup. The top carpark is smaller and lacks picnic facilities but also provides direct trail access. It is situated on the left off Recreation Drive, just before the entrance to the mine area.

Exciting new trails have recently been installed in Russell Park on the Bunya Mountains thanks to a new initiative from the Western Downs Regional Council. The Russell Park Trails have added a new adventure experience to the Bunyas which cater to all riding abilities. There are three designated trails and one shared use trail ranging from 1.3 to 6.3 kilometres with a total of 18 kilometres of track rating from easy to intermediate. Designed to preserve the natural environment the trails have a minimal footprint in the pristine Bunya Mountains locality and link up with several sites in the area including the Russell Park Picnic Area, Bunya Mountains Outlook (Fishers Lookout) and Rifle Bird Park.
Dedicated hygiene stations are located at the trailheads to prevent the spread of plant diseases like phytophthora in and out of the park. These stations use a fine mist of diluted disinfectant and brushes that are safe for your bike's paintwork, helping to keep the park protected.
In addition to bike amenities, the park offers new toilets, designated parking, significant landscaping, and new picnic settings.
